Branding and Logo Design Projects
Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines
The Brand
The Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines, Inc. or WBPP is an organization of wild bird photographers, scientists, and nature enthusiasts. It was formally established on September 1, 2012 and duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 30, 2013.
Our fervent hope is that as we learn to appreciate and value our unique national heritage, we would be moved to protect and conserve this wonderful natural resource that we have through our photographs online and in exhibits around the country.
Our main objectives is to contribute to the development and promotion of wild bird and nature photography as a means towards wildlife conservation.
As a brand with more than two hundred and fifty full-fledged official members over the past 11 years, the Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines (WBPP) is a group that carries with it a rich history of camaraderie with a shared love for nature.
As it approaches the digital age, the WBPP aims to overcome new challenges in the ever-growing social media scene, with more people in the world spending time on their phones.
As such, many of the WBPP’s initial design and social media works needed a new refreshing update to expand its membership and become flexible and open to future collaborations, partnerships, and sponsorships.
Above all else, the WBPP is a group with professionalism in its spirit. Being a member of the WBPP implies a sense of professionalism in their field of Philippine bird photography, a genre that is recognized for being one of the most difficult yet fulfilling for photographers. Thus, the design has to reflect that core sense of professionalism of the WBPP to be an attractive long-standing group for generations to come.
The Logo
The Logo of the Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines is a silhouette of the Philippine Eagle in flight. In addition to it being a national symbol, the Philippine Eagle is used as a representation for the brand’s ambition to spread conservation, awareness, and love of Philippine Birds to the world.
Text accompanying the logo incorporates the “WBPP” acronym as well as the “Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines” for official posts and documents.
The new logo for 2024 is a revised version of the logo made way back when the organization started with tweaks to the way the Philippine Eagle is represented and a revised logo font with Helvetica.
Logo Use Cases
As much as possible, we’ll use the logo in its White Variant with the Green Background to emphasize our brand colors and stand out as an organization.
For most event printed media like Tarpaulin Printouts, Brochures, Flyers, and the like, the WBPP logo shall be represented with the White Logo against a Green background
For Social Media Posts like Facebook Field Reports or Facebook Announcements, the WBPP logo shall be represented with the White Logo against a darker photograph.
Typography
The primary typeface that will be used for the Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines’ social media post is the DIN Next font family.
DIN Next is incredibly flexible with a wide array of different options for it, from light all the way to black. The sans serif style of DIN is modern and refreshing for the brand, which has historically relied on Arial. Much of the way DIN Next should be used can be inferred from the layout of this current brand document, with DIN Next BOLD being the Header font and the body being DIN Next Regular.
The Use of DIN Next not only reflects the WBPP brand as a fresh and modern, but also as attractive and flexible, with the DIN Next family being available for various layout programs like the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
The text will only be displayed in two colors for social media posts: La Palma Green and White.
Social Media Templates
For the WBPP, two templates will be provided based on the most common type of posts that will be made.
The first type is the Announcement Posts. The announcement posts are meant to convey anticipation for an event involving the public and the WBPP members. A prominent characteristic of this post will be its use of a footer where event partners and sponsor logos will be included. Avoid touching the footer to keep all of our posts consistent. The main hero image of this post is the inclusion of a bird photograph from the WBPP’s Board of Trustee Members. Announcement Posts only use one image.
The second type is the WBPP #InTheField Posts. This kind focuses on the achievements, the stories from the field, and the significant events that has happened with WBPP. Think of this set as a news report/journal entry, where you update the uplic on the activities of the organization with photographs of a particular event or a significant signing. This set of posts also includes a footer, but it doesn’t have any partners or sponsorships on it, just the Facebook @ and the copyright to give a professional look for WBPP. In contrast to the Announcement Posts, the more story-driven In The Field Posts are designed in a carousel-like manner, having 4 or more images in a single post.
