This graphic tee design, originally done and completed during 2024, features three of La Mesa Ecopark’s most iconic birds: the Ashy Thrush (left), the Philippine Eagle-owl (center), and the Rough-crested Malkoha (right)
Out of the three birds here, I’ve only seen the Ashy Thrush in LMEP, but I’m sure a lot of other birders have also seen the Philippine Eagle-owl in the park. It’s been great hearing the LMEP staff tell us stories about when they first encountered the funky Luzon-endemic Rough-crested Malkoha along their forest trail
Before this design, we actually had a completely different version featuring bits of LMEP’s architecture as well, but we moved on to this more playful approach with the birds perched on the logo instead. We integrated bits of that old concept with illustrations of the Eco Academy, Banaba, and a couple of Mañosa patterns within the LMEP logo
